La Maison
Set within the heart of a protected national park, in the historic village of Entrecasteaux, our remarkable 17th-century village house is a place of rare beauty and character. Once owned by the eccentric Baroness Bardici — a woman of impeccable taste — the property has been lovingly preserved and retains an authenticity seldom found in historic French homes today.
Its rich history has been uncovered through the stories of my master artisan builder, Frédéric, and the long-standing villagers who have called this place home for generations. If you are seeking a deeply relaxing and genuinely Provençal escape, you have truly arrived.
Enter at street level into the original entrance hall, where the celebrated 17th-century tomette tiles — crafted in the neighbouring village of Salernes and now admired worldwide — set the tone for the house. This level also features a guest cloakroom and a discreet laundry room.
From here, take either the staircase or the private lift to the second level. This floor is dedicated to the principal suite, complete with a generous queen-size bed and elegant en-suite bathroom. A sunken office and a beautifully curated library nook — offering both English and French titles — create a peaceful space for work or quiet reflection.
The third level houses two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. The first bedroom features a French antique bed and opens via traditional French doors to sweeping panoramic views over the river and surrounding forest. The third bedroom offers twin beds that can be seamlessly converted into a double.
The family bathroom is a sanctuary in itself, with double basins, a shower complete with hand painted tiles and a striking cast-iron bath rescued from the château on the village square — a final flourish of heritage and charm.
